Then, he quite happily flopped down on Jed, cheek resting on his

stomach, arm thrown over his hips. The scent of the vampires was gone

now, taken over with Jed’s natural scent and both he and Jed mingled

together. The howling in his mind quieted to a content rumble.

“Love you,” he mumbled into Jed’s stomach, still rubbing his palm

over Jed’s hip.

Sounding dazed, Jed replied, “Please tell me I can touch you now.”

Redford twisted his neck to look up at him. He was aroused, but it was

more like a slow burn, nothing that he needed to deal with right away.

He’d just been happy to make Jed the center of his world.

“You don’t have to,” Redford murmured, brushing a kiss against Jed’s

stomach. “That was about you.”

The molasses slow smile in Jed’s voice was easy to hear. “Oh, Jesus,

Red, trust me, I figured that one out. That was….” Hesitantly, oddly

submissive, Jed’s fingers turned so that he could barely brush Redford’s

wrist, the touch almost an inquiry, asking permission. “That was

incredible. I just want to show you how much.”

His mind blessedly silent now, Redford got an arm underneath him to

push up, shifting to lie on his side next to Jed. His eyes fell on the marks

standing out starkly on Jed’s neck, and despite his contentment that Jed

had enjoyed that, his lips twisted in a worried frown. He wasn’t sure if he

liked this hesitant, permission-seeking Jed. It was just so different than

how he normally was, and Redford started wondering if he’d frightened

Jed somehow.

“I didn’t scare you, did I?” Redford raised his eyes to look at Jed,

placing his hand over Jed’s heart. “I don’t—my instincts kind of went…

um. Haywire.”

Immediately, Jed’s hand went up to cover Redford’s, Jed struggling to

sit up on his elbows. “Hey,” he whispered, bumping his forehead lightly

against Redford’s. “I can handle it. I’ve told you that since the day I met

you. I can handle all of it, whatever you’ve got. And, shit, Fido.” Cracking

a little sheepish grin, Jed shrugged. “I liked it. A lot. Do you get that?”

Trying to process that, Redford watched Jed carefully. He wasn’t

wincing when he moved. He clearly wasn’t in any kind of real pain. Jed

had talked, previously, about how he liked to ache a little after good sex,

how he liked the twinge of a reminder the next day. Jed was smiling,

looking utterly satisfied.
